FE UNY STUDENTS WIN 2ND WINNER OF THE NATIONAL DEBATE COMPETITION OF ECONOMIC ISSUES IN UNDIKSHA BALI

Students of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics, UNY, namely Miftakhul Hidayah, Bagja Sumantri, and Sri Nuryanto won second place in the "Economic Issues" National Debate competition which was held at Ganesha Education University (UNDIKSHA) Bali on Friday (18/5). Participants in this Debate Competition are students of Economic Education from all universities in Indonesia who formed a forum in the All-Indonesian Economic Education Student Association (IMAPESI). IMAPESI is used as a reference as a unifying nation's ideals and a forum to collect the aspirations of Economic Education Students in developing science and education. This year's National Debate Competition on Economic Issues is themed “Improve the Spirit of Critical, Competitive and Democratic Students.

The National Debate Competition on Economic Issues was participated by 10 universities throughout Indonesia. The universities that participated in the competition were Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, UHAMKA, UNY, IKIP PGRI Jember, SWCU Salatiga, UNDIKSHA, Jember State University, UPS Tegal, Kanjuruhan Malang.

The first place was won by UNDIKSHA, the second place was won by FE UNY, the third place was won by the Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta (UNS) and the first place was won by the State University of Jember. With this national debate competition on economic issues, it is hoped that it will be able to train students' ability to negotiate and argue on a national scale. Besides being a means for students to think critically, intelligently, innovatively, and sensitively in responding to global economic issues. The hope is that it can increase the potential and quality of Economic Education Students throughout Indonesia. (Nur&Isti/aw)
